Begin: Don’t Look for the Starting Point

Begin: Don’t Look for the Starting Point

“Do not wait; the time will never be ‘just right’. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.” – Napoleon Hill

Often times we have great ideas, things to say, art to share, or tasks to accomplish, but we simply get stuck. We have a strong desire, but lack the oomph to begin. Why is this? Do we lack focus? Do we need a manual? Are we afraid?

Has it ever occurred to you that not all artists, professionals, entrepreneurs begin at the “beginning?” Take a writer for example. Perhaps the first thing that came to mind was a triumphal or fatal ending? Perhaps the main character? Or maybe a location? The writer knows that “traditional” stories begin at a certain time and often progress towards the future. Does he/she need to start at the beginning? Do you think they all do? Many may write the last chapter first, the climax, or simply fill pages describing a location before they even go into page #1.

We don’t have to begin at the “beginning.” We simply need to begin! If we let our creativity flow, sooner or later, the rest will flow in its place. It will come to you when it needs to come.

Entrepreneurs often start businesses with a passion, a goal and/or vision in mind. They see the bigger picture of how X product or service will benefit a certain market. It is that benefit that keeps the entrepreneur focused in realizing his/her vision.

Don’t look for the starting point…simply begin!
